Behavior, rational and irrational

Behavior is the sum total of the actions and mannerisms that are exhibited by humans, or systems that are brought about in response to and influenced by attitude, cultural factors and acquired or innate values. Indeed, behavior is the way people translate their thinking processes,

how they feel and execute these thoughts.

Rational behavior involves logical thinking and responsibly taking actions that are directed by reason. Rational actions are steered by due responsibility and logic so that the resultant actions can be ultimately justified and proved to have been carried out sensibly. Rational behavior needs that the persons are cognitively of the actions, otherwise they would be irrational. Rational behavior is also based on the maxim that there was no emotional distress or coercion. This would mean that the behavior exhibited was not personal and that undue influence was put on the actions.

Rational behavior can be recognized by their way of being sensible and most of all morally and ethically justifiable. This behavior conforms to certain legal, societal and cultural parameters and principles that guide their execution.

Irrational behavior is defined as carrying out actions that are definitely not guided by reason. Irrationality involves having mannerisms that are not characterized by logical uprightness and response actions that have emotional distress. It’s true that irrational behavior can be caused when emotions are involved when making fundamental decisions and that causes one to act irrationally since their decisions were dented by emotions.

Irrational behavior can also be caused by lack of enough cognitive information in executing an action and hence act without due reason and logic. An example of an irrational behavior would be crying hysterically over an issue that is minor and can be solved promptly or being irritated over scenarios that not yet happened. Indeed, people that act irrationality are known to have defense mechanisms to try to justify their actions. The irrational behaviors involve having unrealistic prospects and carrying out irresponsible actions thereafter.

Auf das, was man anschaut, kommt es nicht an, sondern darauf, was man sieht.

Henry David Thoreau
